In my experience, many small to medium sized businesses don’t want to hire an outside vendor to create their website. They would prefer to do it themselves, they just don’t have the tools.
My Marketing Background
My experience in digital marketing goes back more than a decade. I had an internet startup from 2007 to early 2015, and in that time, I learned a lot about digital marketing, SEO, and website development. I also learned a lot about what vendors have to offer in terms of pricing, expertise, and business practices.
In 2015, I started my digital marketing agency, 301 Madison Consulting to provide the honest and transparent business practices that I felt were lacking in the digital marketing world. One of the key components of my business was reassuring my clients that every dollar they spent was being invested in boosting their digital presence. My approach was unique in that I was looking to provide tangible results to my clients as opposed to strictly lead generation or the hope that in six months their presence might improve. I didn’t want them to throw money at me and see if something clicked, I wanted them to know that it will.
The Day That I Said, “AHA!”
Over the years while I worked with small to medium sized businesses, I began to realize that a lot of my clients have the capacity to build their own website on their own, they just don’t know how. Since technology is constantly changing and maintaining a business is demanding, I also presumed they would have a hard time keeping up with the demands of maintaining a site, and some businesses don’t want to build their own!
This is where most businesses are stuck hiring a vendor- one that may be expensive, one that may not offer the results they’re looking for, or a variety of other issues. That’s when I started thinking- if I could figure out a way to give my clients the knowledge to build their website themselves that would be a great option to save them money, give them control, and allow them to update their sites on their own.
BWB is Born
I knew there had to be a way for businesses to be able to build their own sites without paying a massive amount in addition to maintenance fees. I started thinking about all the tools, software, and strategies that would go into creating a website including architecture, images, design, content, optimization and much more that each business could manage on their own. I also had to trim down on some larger details including Adwords, Search Console, Google Analytics, and other features that ultimately, are changing so often that I knew my course had to be the basics. What each business needs to know, and that’s it.
